A New Years Update – Thanks & Blessings from our Family to Yours

Only a few more days until we enter the New Year of 2015! I hope you all have been enjoying the holiday season and were able to sit back and enjoy some quality time with your friends and family members. Other than celebrating the birth of my Savior, spending time with family and friends is my favorite part of the holiday season.

'Nana' with Hannah and Logan in Michigan

In this spirit, I thought it would be nice to post a New Years update from the Otis clan. As many of you know, all of our children have worked for Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Augusta and Lake Oconee, and some continue to play a part in the family business. Many of you also kindly ask how are children are doing, so here is a quick update…

Marc, Megan, Hannah and Logan

Our oldest son, Marc, recently accepted a job in Michigan State University’s Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement. As they prepare to move to East Lansing his wife, Megan, will look for part time teaching positions and Marc will continue to whittle away at his PhD. Our granddaughter, Hannah, is learning to read and will be starting Kindergarten in the fall! Our grandson, Logan, is also growing up quickly, and has learned to walk quite well since we saw him last.  He is bonding well with their new Chocolate Lab puppy, Moose. While they were unable to come home for Christmas, we are excited to go visit them in a few short days.

Justin is also doing well. After years of traveling around the country to for work, he has accepted a new position as a corrosion engineer for Atlanta Gas & Light in Atlanta, GA. He is enjoying learning the science behind the oil and gas industry. It is a growing industry and we are happy for him. We are also grateful that he has a job closer to home.

Kristin, Brendon & Foster

Kristin is over halfway through her PhD program at University of South Carolina. She continues to be passionate about school psychology and is thriving in her studies, equally enjoying both seeing clients and teaching undergraduate classes.  She and her long-time boyfriend, Brendon, are doing a great job raising their beautiful Golden Retriever, Foster

Justin & Jonathan in Paris

While continuing school, Jonathan has narrowed his focus to the field of perfusion. He enjoys the medical field, working with machines and is at his best under pressure. This field seems like a perfect fit for him. This past year, he earned his EMT certification, is taking additional sciences and shadowing several doctors at GRU. He plans to apply to MUSC’s Cardiac Perfusionist program in the coming fall and we know he will do great, helping lots of people through his work.

IMG_1015

Karen is also doing well and staying busy. With family spread out over Columbia, Augusta, and Michigan, she stays on the move. This past year, we are sad to report that we lost our faithful Golden Retriever, Toby.  When Justin moved to ATL he picked up his dog, Romo, and we found ourselves without a dog for the first time in many years. So, we decided to fix that…twice over.  Karen’s birthday present was two new little Golden Retriever puppies – Daisy and Cash. They are sweet (and precocious) little puppies and they keep us plenty busy these days.

Our company had a record-breaking year in 2014, and after sixteen years, I still love what I do. I truly consider it a calling to bring greater beauty, safety, and value by lighting up homes and businesses in Augusta, Aiken, Lake Oconee, & Athens. Last year, I also continued working as a volunteer firefighter in Columbia County, even earning my EMT certification. I am also gradually  getting advanced paramedic training, so that I can keep serving as a first-responder for my church and community.

augusta22Although life is far from perfect, the holiday season reminds me how much the Lord has blessed us, and how much we don’t deserve his kindness to us. I am grateful for this time of year, which points me back to the priceless grace that he offers to all through his Son, Jesus.

As this year comes to close, I look back and give thanks for you, our customers. Despite an ever-expanding client list, you all still feel like family to us. If we can do anything to help you, please do not hesitate to call us at  (706) 722-5711 in Augusta/Aiken or (706) 484-9711 in Lake Oconee/Athens. I look forward to serving all of your outdoor lighting needs in 2015, and for many years to come.

May your New Year be filled with many thanks and blessings as well,

Pat Otis

Reaching Hands Adoption Celebration & Benefit Auction

Reaching Hands PicEvery so often, I dedicate some time to do a “passion post”, where I write about a community issue (or organization) that I believe in and care deeply about. This is one of those blogs.

As you all know, the holidays are right around the corner. While the holidays remind me of all that I have to be thankful for, they also remind me that not everyone enjoys the same kind of blessings that I have. Sadly, many people spend the holidays without a family to celebrate with. I think it is tragic that some loving couples are unable to experience the blessing of children while some children do not have the blessing of being part of a loving family. I also believe that adoption offers a beautiful solution to this heartbreaking problem.

Reaching Hands Adoption Ministry

Click Here for More Information on this Important Ministry

However, the process and cost of adoption can be intimidating to many families who are interested in adopting a child. This is why we support a local adoption ministry called “Reaching Hands”. Reaching Hands is a local grassroots ministry that seeks to be a full service adoption resource for the CSRA community. They help answer questions about adoption, connect families with quality adoption resources, and even provide financial assistance to qualified families. Over the past five years, Reaching Hands has provided needed assistance through ‘adoption grants’ for 32 families and 51 children from 9 countries!

This important ministry is growing rapidly and we present them to you as a model organization that is making a major impact on our CSRA community. If you are looking for a place to send a charitable donation, or simply have questions about the adoption process/ministry, please check out the Reaching Hands website, this great feature article from Augusta Chronicle, or contact David Bullington at (706) 399-1330.

Better still, you can come to the Reaching Hands Adoption Celebration and Benefit Auction on Thursday, November 6th from 6:00-9:00pm at Warren Baptist Church. This will is an exciting evening dedicated to celebrating adoptive families and raising funds to support Reaching Hands. We are honored to donate some of our lights for the auction, and look forward o eating some of the delicious appetizers and desserts that will be provided by several wonderful area restaurants. Tickets are only $10.

Can’t make it on Thursday night? No problem! You can still contribute. This year, the silent auction will begin online before the night of the event.  Please join with us in supporting this important ministry.

I am so thankful for our business and for the wonderful customers that we serve. I look forward to continuing to work hard to satisfy all of your outdoor lighting needs. Outdoor Lighting For Every Season

CINN-001It seems like these sweet summer nights have only just arrived, but soon the days will get shorter, the air will become crisper, and the leaves will begin to change. Ask any student and they will tell you, fall is coming (and it will be here before we know it). Thankfully, our outdoor lights can help you savor these last weeks of summer, but did you also know that our lights can enhance the beauty of your home in unique and interesting ways each and every season?

Whether it be the blazing colors of fall, or the beautiful blooms of spring, our experienced lighting professionals know how to design and install a lighting system that ensures your home will look beautiful each and every season. Our incredible warranty also guarantees that your home will keep looking great, night after night, season after season, year after year.

Allow me to give you a few concrete examples of how Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Augusta and Lake Oconee can enhance the beauty of your home each season…

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives - Pool LightsSummer – Your yard is used more during the summer than any other time of the year. The days are longer, but the party doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down. Whether it be pool, garden, or deck lighting, we can help you get the most use out of your yard when the weather is most enjoyable. We know you want to savor every moment of this lush green haven, and we have spent all summer showing you how our lights can help your garden to glow.

Tree LightingFall – This is also a wonderful season for outdoor lighting. The leaves are changing from lush greens to blazing reds, orange and yellows. As beautiful as your trees, flowers, and gardens look during the day, they are even more beautiful at night with our lights. While do-it-yourself lighting kits and fly-by-night lighting guys are less expensive, they also lack the design expertise and warranty you get with our company. When we design a lighting system, we craft it to compliment all seasons and all viewing perspectives. This means that you can help you to enjoy how the leaves are changing every night of fall, from the comfort of your favorite chair.

Illuminate_TnailWinter – Many people are surprised to learn that winter is an amazing season for outdoor lighting. But, think about it: the leaves are gone, the days are short and the nights are long. Barren branches bring a new, beautiful, and interesting perspective to your trees and landscape. Since the days are short, you actually get the most use out of your lights during these long winter nights. Yes, the nights are longer, and your family will be at home most during these evening hours. We design each lighting systems to not only beautify your home, but also to increase the safety and security of your home at night. Whether going to/from your car, taking out the trash, or simply watching your favorite television shows, our lights help you and your loved ones to feel (and more importantly, be) more safe as the sun goes down.

flower lighting Augusta Lake Oconee GASpring – There is nothing quite like spring in Augusta, and nothing quite captures the ‘Masters magic’ and beautiful blooms like a quality lighting system designed by our outdoor lighting artisans. As our lights highlight the beautiful blooms of spring, you and your guests will be reminded that the long wait of winter is ending, that longer days and warmer weather are just around the corner. When the world looks at Augusta in spring it sees images of perfectly groomed grass, elegantly trimmed trees, and beautiful azaleas in bloom each and every year. When people see Augusta, they see something that is beautiful and elegant, yet subtle and understated. Many of our customers rent their houses out for guests, others invite special friends to visit, but all want to give their homes that “Masters makeover”. They want their homes to look beautiful and elegant, yet subtle and understated. This also describes the lighting effect that we are known for, and that we guarantee to bring to each and every home we light.

If you have any questions, or would like a free home consultation, to learn how we can help you home to look great season after season, call us at (706) 722-5711 in Augusta/Aiken or (706) 484-9711 in Athens/Lake Oconee.

I hope to hear from you soon,

3 Reasons We Are the CSRA’s Premier Event Lighting Company

Quick riddle for you: what do the Academy Awards, the Royal Wedding, and Augusta’s Sacred Heart Garden Tour all have in common? Answer: Great Event Lighting.

Whether it be Backyard Parties, Elaborate Weddings, Office Celebrations, or Community Fundraisers, Quality Lighting Makes a Good Event Great

Although we are best known for installing permanent residential and commercial lighting systems, did you know that we also offer temporary lighting systems for special events? For many years, we have quietly been making a name for ourselves as the CSRA’s premier event lighting company. It has been our honor to light a wide variety of important events for our customers: from backyard parties to elaborate weddings, office celebrations to community fundraisers, we shine at special events where good lighting is a must.

So, why should you call us for your next special event?  Here are the top 3 reasons…

Our Lights…

1. Set the Right Mood for Your Special Event

Special event lighting aiken athen lake oconee backyard party

Romantic, Elegant, Exciting, or Anything in-between, Let Us Create the Perfect Mood for your Special Event

We’ve all heard the term “mood lighting” used many times before. The term’s popularity is evidence of the power of light to shape our mood and experience of an event. Consider some of the most memorable events you have experienced. Whether it be a  romantic dinner with your partner, a performance piece that touched you deeply, or a particularly beautiful wedding, chances are, by intentional design (or blind luck), lighting played an important part in making that event so meaningful and memorable for you. Truly, good mood lighting has the power to make a good event great. Whether you are aiming for romantic, intimate, exciting, or anything in between, we have the practical experience, technical skill, and artistic sensibilities needed to help you create the perfect mood for your next special event.

 2. Make Your Event Planning Easier

Make event planning easier with Outdoor Lighting in augusta and aiken

Let Us Help you Take Care of Some Crucial Aesthetic and Practical Details to Ensure that your Special Event is Beautiful, Seamless, and Low Stress.

Let’s be honest – planning special events can present a quite a challenge. Consider all the details an event planner has to keep track of: does the caterer have all the equipment they need? Is the florist on time and on track? Which guests still need directions? Every event requires planners to juggle a lot of details, but the best events create a mood (and a host) that is calm, complimentary, and engaging. When you choose us, we help you by taking care of some of the most crucial aesthetic and practical details to ensure that your special event is beautiful, seamless, and most importantly, low stress. We will quietly set up our lights at a convenient time before your event, test/program them on site, and quickly take them down at a time that works best for you. With us, you get to rest a bit easier, trusting that there will be no hassle, no fuss, and no problems with our lights. We know that you’ve got enough to worry about, so let us help you enjoy the event you have worked so hard on.

3. Provide Lighting of Some of CSRA’s Most Prestigious Events

garden festival page marker editWe have worked hard to become the official event lighting company for some of the most discerning clients and prestigious events in the CSRA. We are proud to provide the lighting  for the Sacred Heart Garden Tour, Swamp Soiree, Blue Jean Ball, Historic Augusta’s Cotton Ball and Woodrow Wilson boyhood home, and many other stalwart community events. These events all have a well-deserved reputation, and we our happy to lend our lights to compliment and enhance the popularity and success of these must-attend events.

When you choose Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Augusta and Lake Oconee, we offer you a free consultation to learn about your event, and to design a lighting package that will best compliment the goals and mood of your special event. Once we know your goals, we will design custom event lighting package for your event and offer you a competitive quote while you wait. Top 5 Ways We Can Help Your Garden to Glow This Summer

Our Reliable Service Ensures that Your Lights Continue Look Great Year After Year

Its a new summer season, and that means there are new memories to be made, new sights to see, and new parties to throw. It also means a new summer focus for our blogs. Last year we had a lot of fun thinking through how we could help you to light up those “summer nights”, and this year we turn our attention to your yard and garden.

Let’s be honest – you spend a lot of time and money making your lawn and garden great. enjoy your garden at night with quality outdoor lightingSo, why should you spend any more than have to? But, also consider this – why should you just get to enjoy your investment during the daylight hours? Most of us spend most of our time at home during the evening hours, and we think you should be able to enjoy your yard investment whenever you want. Our lights will help you do this.

For the rest of the summer we are going to focus on how we, at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Augusta and Lake Oconee, can help  your yard and garden to really glow this summer season…and every season after.

Below is a quick preview: Our lights…

Every Garden Has Hidden Beauty Waiting To Be Uncovered with our lights

1. Bring out the hidden beauty of your yard at night. Most people aren’t aware that the evening hours offer a fresh and unique perspective of your garden. Yet, as this Gazebo picture shows, there are areas of hidden beauty in every garden at night just waiting to be uncovered. Summer nights offer the ideal opportunity to see your garden in a whole new light. Let us work hard to help you bring out the hidden beauty of your garden and see your yard in a whole new light this summer.

2. Make outdoor entertaining a breeze. Whether it be a cocktail party or a family picnic, our lights always help keep the party going. Quality outdoor lighting means that your guests don’t have to leave when evening comes; and, unlike other lesser lighting fixtures, we guarantee that our lights will always be beautiful, dependable, and versatile. This means you can rest assured that no matter the celebration, our lights will be there to help you make the most of any event you will ever host.

water feature lighting draws attention to the waterfall as the focal points of your yard

3. Highlight your favorite features of your yard. Nighttime is the ideal time to accent what you desire to be the focal point of your yard. Think about it this way – the evening offers you a black canvas to draw attention to your favorite parts of your lawn and garden. Like the artist Rembrandt, the original “painter of light”, we bring light into places where it does not exist, accenting the parts of your yard that you most want to highlight.

4. Bring greater safety and security to your yard. We all instinctively know that safety and security are priceless feelings. Our lights increase your yard’s safety with beautiful path lights, helping people know where to walk in your yard, hidden moon-lights illuminating the ground with a soft glow from above, and pool lights increasing visibility in your pools and water features. As for security, you and your family will breathe easier as our lights push back the darkness and illumine the dark spots of your yard.

5. Enhance Your Home’s Beauty Every Season. It seems like the spring leaves have only just arrived, and we know you want to savor every moment of this lush green haven.

Both/And: Increase the Beauty, Safety, & Security of Your Home this Summer

Your Family's Safety & Security are Priceless. Our Lights Can Help...

Your Family’s Safety & Security are Priceless. Our Lights Can Help…

Summer is almost here, and if you are like me, you are ready to sit back and enjoy those cool summer nights in your backyard. I mean, what could be better?  Well, that depends…

Try this – next time you are sitting in your backyard, take a moment to consider: how does this feel? Also consider: wouldn’t it be nice to relax in a backyard that makes you feel inspired, welcomed, safe and secure? In my mind, these are priceless feelings, especially safety and security. That said, I don’t think the desire for beauty and safety is an either/or choice with outdoor lighting, in my mind the desire for beauty and safety is always a both/and option….at least when you use the right lighting company.

At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Augusta and Lake Oconee, we aim to be that right lighting company, specializing in creating house and garden lighting systems that increase your home’s beauty, safety, and security. We talk a lot about how our lights beautify, but how do our lights promote safety and security in your home or garden?

Pool lighting can transform your pool into a relaxing oasis

Hear a Noise? Turn on the Lights. Our LCA Timers Let You Control Your Lights from Anywhere in the House

Safety: Our lights make your yard more safe in a variety of ways: beautiful solid copper pathlights will help your guests know where to walk in your yard, hidden moon-lights can illuminate the dark spots in your yard with a soft glow from above, and custom pool lights increase visibility in your pools and water features. You, your family and guests will breathe easier and be safer with our lights pushing back the darkness, bringing our signature warm, welcoming and elegant lighting effect to your backyard.

Increase you family's safety by lighting up your walkways and driveways

Security: Professional outdoor landscape and architectural lighting not only makes your home look more beautiful and inviting, it also adds a “blanket of security” to your home and yard. It is proven that homes and businesses with strategically placed outdoor lighting often deter potential criminals. Outdoor lighting can make it easier for you and your neighbors to see if someone tries to enter your home, but it can also help you feel more secure when you and your family come home after dark. Our LCA timers also add a another dimension of security to your home. Hear a strange noise in your yard? You can turn on your lights from anywhere in your house with our digital LCA timers. You can also set custom lighting programs, creating the look of someone being home even while you are away.  While the feeling of safety and security is priceless, our lights and LCA timers can help you get a lot closer than you were before.

A More Beautiful and Safer Home in Just a Phone Call Away

A More Beautiful and Safer Home is a Phone Call Away

Whether you are interested in traditional landscape lighting, or some of our security lighting features, we know you’ll breathe a little easier, knowing that your home is well lit and your family is safer at night as a result. Its that Time of Year Again in Augusta…

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Augusta & Lake Oconooe Outdoor Lighting

Its been a long winter, but Spring has come to Augusta.
Is your home looking its best?

I don’t know what I’d do without my wife, my office manager, or my cell phone. These 3 consistently remind me of the important things I tend to forget. This week, I am going to remind you about 2 important things that are coming up very soon this time of year…

Our Lights Look So Good, & are So Inexpensive to run, you Will Leave Them on All Night Long.

Our LCA timers take away the hassle. They are very convenient, extremely customizable, & always reliable.

1). Daylighting Savings is this weekend! This Sunday, we ‘spring forward’ an hour. Yes, we lose an hour of sleep, but we also gain back some of those precious hours of daylight in the evening hours. So, this is a remember to find every clock in your house, car, and office and set it forward one hour.

pool & Arbor lights augusta georgia

Is your pool ready for those hot summer nights?

What a hassle, huh? Forget one clock and you might show up somewhere pretty late. Wouldn’t it be nice if your whole house was like your cell phone, automatically updating to the correct time when needed? Thankfully, you don’t have to hassle with our lights.

At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Augusta and Lake Oconee, we have a lighting timer system that we are very proud of. Our ‘Lighting Control Automation’ (LCA) system is an intuitive, state-of-the-art system that our customers absolutely love. I’ll give you three quick reasons why our LCA system is the best timer available on the market today.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives - augusta / aiken Pool Party

Custom program your LCA timer for a variety of themes that fit your lifestyle. This one is called: “evening swim”

Our LCA timers are…CONVENIENT: Our LCA timers utilize cutting edge coordinate-based software that automatically adjusts for constantly changing conditions like local sunrise/sunset, daylight savings time, etc. This makes our timer system extremely convenient – you don’t have to reset your timer every few months, you just enjoy lights that work right when you need them to. CUSTOMIZABLE: Our LCA timers are also fully customizable to meet your individual needs (and wildest desires). Depending on your preferences, we can program our lightsto come on at different times, in different zones, and even with different devices (switches, computer tablets, cell phones). Get this – not only can we program our lights, but we can also integrate any existing inside or outside light into our LCA system. This means we can program ‘smart lighting themes’ for your home. Some of our popular themes include the ‘welcome home’, “evening party’, ‘midnight snack’, ‘on vacation’ themes, and many more. Our LCA timers options are limited only by your imagination. CONSISTENT: Best of all, our LCA timers never suffer from weak signal issues, making them extremely consistent and reliable. Our timers ensure that your lights work like you want them to, every time you need them to.
